Summary

In 1 Samuel 20 and 21, David is on the run from Saul a man who should love him. This is the Bible Book Club. I'm Heather and I'm Susan and we're in the book of First Samuel.

Welcome to the club. Last episode in chapters 20 and 21, David began life in the spotlight as a successful military leader. And like any superstar, some liked him

and some didn't. David found favor with Jonathan, though, Saul's son and a deep friendship develops.

But David fell out of favor with Saul, who became very jealous of David's success. Saul's

emotions about David are so strong that he begins to get violent, losing his

temper and hurling spears at David. This marks the beginning of David's 14 years of persecution from

Saul. David finds favor with the people, though, they love him. They can see that David has found

Saul begins to covertly try to kill David by sending him to fight the Philistines in exchange
