Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor,

Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised.

I think that's an important detail because I think it shows us that Jonathan is thinking in religious categories.

Jonathan is not thinking in terms of, look at how numerous the Philistines are,

look at all of their worldly strength. He's thinking in terms of, we're the ones in covenant

with the Lord. Those people are uncircumcised.

All right, so guys, last week we talked about Saul's so-called Golden Age, and we talked about

his victory over the Ammonites, and we talked about, I so-called Golden Age, and we talked about his victory over the Ammonites,

and we talked about, I think, at the end of 1st Samuel 12, we talked about Samuel's kind of a bummer

farewell speech, a little bit of a head-spinning farewell speech. Who can summarize for me

very briefly what Samuel basically said to his countrymen. Oh, you each

pointed out of each other. That would have been a good moment to catch on video. I would say that

Samuel kind of talks to them like Moses and Joshua did. You people don't have the hearts that

you need. You're going to blow it, and the Lord's going to be merciful. Well said. Yep. And don't commit idolatry.
