0:00.0 | Back here, live at Summer League with the Philadelphia 76s and summer sixers. |
0:54.5 | And we're here with last year's first round draft pick. Jared McCain. Jared, good to see you, man. You too, man. Great to see you. Yeah, it's good to be back in here. How are you feeling, first of all, just to let the people know how you're feeling from your surgery from a year ago rehabbing it all? Yeah, I feel amazing, man. It's sometimes hard to look back at the progress because it's like you don't see it in like the past two weeks. But when I look back to December or January where I couldn't even walk, it's amazing. So I'm just happy to get back out there and start moving around a little bit more. But I miss it. It's tough being away from basketball this long. And I know you had to watch it during the season, but being back in here in this environment, know how big it was for you last summer, knowing what year two would have looked like for you out there on the floor with Vijay potentially? You chomping at the bit of just getting back out there. Yeah, I mean, it's just, this is fun to be out here with VJ. You said potentially playing with VJ, caught me up guard line. Hopefully I'm for sure playing with VJ. That's the plan. But now, it's fun, getting to know the draft picks, getting to know people, just seeing people who I don't see a lot throughout the season, but it's great vibes to be here in Vegas. Yeah, so since you couldn't work out a lot after the surgery, obviously |
0:54.5 | you said off your feet driving you crazy. the season, but it's great vibes to be here in Vegas. Yeah, so since you couldn't work out a lot |
1:12.0 | after the surgery, obviously you said off your feet driving you crazy. This is normally a skill |
1:17.3 | development time. You're going year number two. So what were you able to do during that time of |
1:23.0 | your rehab, you get back floor work that you would have liked to have done, couldn't do, but you can do a |
1:28.5 | little bit of something. Yeah, I think the main thing I focused on during this rehab was like my mental. I really feel like that's like 90%. Of course, once you get to the NBA, I feel like a lot of it's mental. And just dealing with, you know, confidence and knowing you're, you come out on the core you feel like you're the best player out there so a lot of myself i feel like i didn't skip a |
1:26.8 | beat because i did a lot of visualization workouts. And I would sit down and visualize the exact routine. I do my warm up. I do my form shots. And I would just visualize it. And obviously there's so much stuff that happens, like some random stuff happens in your, and you're visualizing. But it was really helpful. And I feel like, I mean, your brain doesn't know the difference between that and your body moving. So I feel like I was getting a good workout in, and I feel like I've been doing that, and I feel like that's improved, and that's why I got injured was to find something else into it, and everything happens for a reason. So that's why. Yeah, so when everything did go down, before it happened, you had a pretty good start to your career. |
2:01.9 | It's 23 games in, but was there anything that surprised you of your play? Because there were some, you had some really big games. You had some games where, of course, you guys won a little bit, and you had a big part of a big hand in it. But you had some really explosive games where a lot of people, Six of fans were surprised by what you did. Did you surprise yourself with anything through those 23? Not really, no. I feel like I was able to show exactly what I work on, and I think that's a attribute to what I work on, what I've been working on for my whole life, for real. |
2:48.5 | But, you know, being at Duke, we had a lot of guards in general, so, you know, I wasn't playing on ball as much. But now I got to the league and, you know, not luckily, but people were hurt. And I was able to have that guard spot and kind of showcase what I can do on the ball a little bit more than off the ball. So I think it's exactly what I worked on. |
3:08.1 | It's stuff I'm not surprised at, but hopefully I can do on the ball a little bit more than off the ball. So I think it's exactly what I worked on. |
3:08.9 | It's stuff. |
3:09.3 | I'm not surprised at, but hopefully I can continue to do that at this, at this, the highest level right now. All right. So what's on the docket for the rest of the summer after we're done here? You're going back to L.A. You're going back to Philly back and forth between. with the i'll pretty much be in l a be in l a and then for a little bit |
3:25.3 | and then philly uh for most of the time just getting back with the medical staff and uh show |
3:30.3 | and face and making sure that i'm i'm there i'm there and i'm getting better and uh just next step |

3:43.0 | you got to show a rook the routine man you got to show them what philadelphia is all about you know now of course |
3:47.5 | i mean a little bit i know a little bit uh you know i'll definitely take him out to dinner we'll have a fun time |
3:52.3 | it'll be cool just not being a vet because kyle still says i haven't played 82 games so i'm still a rookie but they all said it you know when Kyle says it then like it trickles down and everybody says I'm a rookie still so maybe I'll be carrying back still. Oh year man he played the 23 and you got to yeah I know but I'll probably still be doing something but yeah to get to know VJ and show him around the city it'll be fun yeah no rookie do these for Jared McCain anymore. Make them do it. It's all good. Jared, good to see, know, VJ and show them around the city, it'll be fun. Yeah, no rookie duties for Jared McCain anymore. |
4:14.6 | Make them do it. |
4:15.6 | It's all good. |
