Now, let's dive into the lesson.

So we embark on this first book written by Nephi.

Before we dive into our scripture block for today,

I just wanted to show you in the 1830

replica edition of the Book of Mormon that if you look carefully, there are no footnotes,

there are no verse markers, there aren't double columns, it's simply written in paragraph format.

And the first chapter of Nephi is long.

It comes clear over to the original page 16 and it ends with chapter 5 verse 22 in our current edition.

And then it picks up chapter 2 with, and now I Nephi do not give the genealogy of my

So he opens up chapter 2 in what we would call verse six or sorry chapter six.

So a couple of things just for you to be oriented with. The 1830 edition has completely

different chapter breaks the way it was originally given.
