Lord, thank you for your word.

Thank you for this chapter that we have here in your word tonight. Thank you for all of the lessons that are woven into the fabric of this chapter that we can take home with us this evening after our time together in your word.

We're really looking to you to minister to us and to speak to us very clearly.

So Lord speak. We're listening. Your servants are listening. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

All right, let's just jump in. Verse three. We're still dealing with this Rehoboam and Jeroboam. Jeroboam is not our friend. That's going

to become abundantly clear here this evening. Verse 1. At that time Abijah, the son of Jeroboam

became sick. And Jeroboam said to his wife, please arise and disguise yourself that they may not recognize you as the wife of Jeroboam and go to Shiloh.

Indeed, Ahesha, the prophet is there, who told me that I would be king over his people.

Also, take with you ten loaves, some cakes and a jar of honey,

and go to him and he will tell you what will become of the child. Well, here we go.

What Jeroboam does here is very interesting, and this for a number of reasons, not the least

of which is that I believe that he knows that he's a fraud.

And I'll explain why it is that I believe that and say that.

And think about this.

For him to turn to God, his son's sick now, his son's fallen ill, it would appear from the text that his son is now deathly ill, which is why he does this and tells his wife to do this.
