Chapter 5 verse 1.

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, right?

That Jesus is the Messiah is born of God.

And everyone who loves him who begot also loves him who is begotten of him.

Kind of a weird circumlocution in English.

But the idea is, right, that the person who's born of God, the person who's a child of

God, right, holds that Jesus is the Messiah, right?

It's faithful to Jesus as the Messiah, as king as his Lord and so everyone who loves God

like God the Father will also love Jesus who is his Messiah who is his son right so

we talked before we've seen this before clearly we're in a situation still as we would be

here at the end of the first century where there are within a Jewish community there are

Jewish people who have accepted Jesus as the Messiah and those who haven't.

Right?

And so, and this is a theme also that's in St. John's Gospel,

that the people who say they love God the Father,

who say they love the God of the Old Testament,

who say they love Yahweh, the God of Israel,

but reject Jesus, right? Re reject the Messiah. He's saying,
