The invention of the internet brought our world many, many great things.

It was the future, changing the way we lived life on a day-to-day basis.

In the 21st century's first serial killer was perhaps appropriately also considered

In many ways, this offender was both an unusual serial killer and yet, at the same time,

We begin our story in March of the year 2000, a new century and a new millennium more

beginning, and the big Y2K scare to everyone's relief was totally overblown.

But up in Monroe, Michigan, about 40 miles south of Detroit, a woman named Carolyn Troutton

was dealing with her own very personal fears.

She worried about the well-being of her 27-year-old daughter, Susette.

Only a few weeks earlier, Susette had moved away from her hometown to begin an exciting new
