The Whole Council of God. Father Stephen is a former Protestant pastor and Bible teacher in the

Reformed Church, but now an Orthodox priest serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

in Lafayette, Louisiana. So we'll go ahead and get started.

And when we get started here, just a moment,

we'll be picking up in St. Paul's first epistle

to the Corinthians chapter 5,

which you can see from the heading, it's to get interesting but before we do that we'll go

ahead and get caught up where we've been a lot of what we've read so far is the introduction

to the letter and st. Paul talking about sort of his own role he's been arguing against the

factions that have been developing at the church

in Corinth, who have sort of set themselves up as followers of individual apostles, that this

is causing sort of dissension and division.

So he's talked about his own ministry and the humility required by that ministry.

He has nothing to boast about, so you certainly shouldn't become his fan or his follower.

And that that applies to the apostles in general.

And that rather than becoming a fan or a follower of St. Paul,

you should try to emulate the humility with which he's lived his life in service of

Christ, and that if you do that, following Christ by serving him in the way that St. Paul had served

him in front of them, then they would be very much on the right track.

And now we're at sort of a transition point because St. Paul is about to get into particular

issues.
