Reformed Church, but now an Orthodox priest serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

in Lafayette, Louisiana. So we'll go ahead and get started.

And when we get started, in just a few moments, we'll be picking up at the beginning of St.

Paul's first epistle to the Corinthians chapter 2.

And though it will likely be some time for us here at the time of this recording before you can hear

last week's Bible study online, because we've got a good lead going on the Bible study as it's being posted.

Eventually, and by the time anyone else is hearing this, you'll be able to go back and listen to my

introduction. Some of that material will come up again as we go through. We'll be revisiting

some of it, some of the background material and that kind of thing as we get to different parts

of this letter. Last time I talked a lot about Corinth and its history and we then went through chapter

one.

And as we mentioned back when we went through the beginning of Romans, in his greetings and

his introduction, St.

Paul tends to sort of plant all the seeds of where he's going, sort of with the epistle as a whole,

sort of serves in the early part as an introduction, and then he sort of unpacks those different

themes as he goes through. So we saw some of those, and we saw that at least one of the

problems, and as we mentioned last time, as we go through, we're going to discover that the church in court has a lot of problems.

But one of those problems as we just saw last time in Chapter 1 is that there were a whole bunch of sort of factions developing,

sort of little cults of personality, unintended, but where there were people in the

church who were sort of forming parties, that they were followers of St. Paul or followers of
