Verse 22, therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to unbelievers.

But prophesying is not for unbelievers, but for those who believe.

So when I'm speaking, if I go out and I speak in different languages, that's to reach different people with the gospel,

right, to communicate to them, right?

That's the goal, to bring them into the community.

With the wisdom, right, and the guidance in those things, I'm not just going to go out into

the street.

Like, we don't send our monastic elders.

Hey, go wander out into the mall.

Yeah, into the mall.

And just start handing out words of wisdom to random passers by.

Right?

It might be effective sometimes.

Who knows how God would use it.

But that's not, right?

That's not the place where that happens.

So speaking different languages, he's saying this kind of thing is for outreach,

or what we would call outreach, right?
