Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible,

chapter by chapter, book by book.

We have just recently started our study of the Book of First Corinthians.

This is an interesting book, and one that is a real

practical book for us. The Apostle Paul is writing to a church congregation that has many problems,

and Paul's instruction to them is also helpful to us, because we too have many of the same problems.

And at the beginning of this book, Paul is refocusing the Corinthians on the main thing, Jesus Christ. This may seem obvious, but we can get so

easily distracted by peripheral issues. So let's now join Pastor John for our teaching and get refocused on Jesus.

Paul declares in 1 Corinthians chapter 1, Christ, verse 17, sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel.

Not with the wisdom of words,

lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness,

but unto us which are saved, it is the power of God.
