And with that, let's get into our study. On Thursday nights, we're going through First Chronicles,

chapter by chapter, verse by verse. And we've been doing pretty good over the weeks. We've

been doing two chapters a week. And I actually tried to do more, but I made the decision

not to rush through, especially chapter 19 19 because of what is before us tonight.

So chapters 18 and 19 tonight, and why don't we begin with a word of prayer and we'll ask

God to bless our time together in His word, if you would join with me.

Loving Heavenly Father, we need for you at this time to focus our attention and enable us to

not be distracted by anything, any care, any affair, any busyness of the day, of the week.

Lord, we just, that's why we're here.

We want to hear you speak into our lives, in and through your word.

And we look forward to our time together on Thursday nights here in the Old Testament. So Lord, would you just bless our time,

we pray, in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, let's jump in. Chapter 18. I'll actually go through

this chapter. It's a short chapter. We'll just go through it real quickly. Verse one, after

this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and

its towns from the hand of the Philistines. Then he defeated Moab and the Moabites. Moab is what we know today as modern day Jordan.

And the Moabites became David's servants and brought tribute.

And verse 3 David defeated Haddadazer, king of Zobah as far as Hamath as he went to establish his power by the

River Euphrates. David took from him 1,000 chariots, 7,000 horsemen, and 20,000 foot soldiers.

Also David hamstrung all the chariot horses except that he spared

enough of them for 100 cherries. Now don't think that this is animal cruelty

cruelty. This is actually military strategy and he just was not in a position to be able to handle that many horses and so that's what he
