Summary

The Science is Unsettling: new reports show that — please sit down — climate researchers not only consistently sold the worst-case scenario… they peddled predictions that went well BEYOND the worst-case scenario.

According to a new story in the New York Times, the looming threat of planetary destruction caused by global climate change has come about because of all the gaslighting.

I'm Scott Aweiddle with Bill Whittle and Stephen Green in this episode of Bright Angles brought to you by the members at Bill Whittle.com.

And gentlemen, I kid you not, there's a story in the New York Times dated the 26th of May,

0:23.6

2026, saying that, as it turns out, some of the most dire scientific predictions that have been

0:32.7

fostered not only by individual scientists and schools and science publications like science and

0:42.3

newspapers like the New York Times weren't really based on what was going to happen or

0:49.3

what even they thought would happen, Steve, but it was based on a worst-case scenario mapping of what could happen.

0:56.9

In fact, and the article is very, very helpful in this way, there's a graph that shows this one pathway

1:04.2

of the impact on the planet that they referred to as RCP 8.5.

1:10.2

And RCP 8.5 is CO2 emissions and their devastating impact.

1:16.5

This is the fastest growth projection that scientists could see potentially happening.

1:25.3

But Steve, as it turns out, they didn't really think it was going to happen.

1:29.2

The majority, this is from the New York Times, the majority of climate scientists still say

1:33.5

global warming is a serious problem and that even more plausible medium emissions scenarios can

1:40.7

carry grave dangers. But the new paper that was just released has raised questions about

1:46.0

whether some of the risks of climate change have been poorly communicated, Steve, or

1:50.9

overstated in years past, and how best to think about those risks going forward.

1:58.6

I know how I'm going to think about them. Steve, how do you think the majority of

2:03.2

Americans will think about them? I'm so glad you brought this up. I've actually written about this

2:07.7

a couple of times in recent weeks. The first time was three weeks ago when my friend Charlie Martin,

2:15.1

who also writes at PJ Media, sent me this thing from, I believe his name is Scott Pilke, who was looking at this 8.5 thing.

2:23.6

Then they actually, believe it or not, kind of gave up on this back in 2021.
