Summary

We actually talked about e-mail for 2 hours. But we didn't want to scare too many people away with our very first podcast so we decided to release this episode in two parts. In part one we talk about the differences between IMAP and POP and why we prefer IMAP, storing messages, Mobile Me and Gmail  services, managing multiple email accounts, Apple Mail, smart folders, rules, spotlight search, data detectors, stationary, thread organization, To-Do management, mail stationary, plug-ins, archiving messages, spam filtering and more. Part two will be released in about a week where we'll go in-depth on our various systems for managing email, the pros and cons of each system, developing a good email work flow, learning how not to become a slave to your inbox, email etiquette and other useful tools.

Mac Power Users, episode one, all about email.

0:15.0

So you may have heard, there's a new MAC podcast on the block.

0:20.0

And you may also be asking yourself, why the heck is there another MAC

0:24.5

podcast out there? Well we think we've got something new that we can contribute

0:29.8

to this space. Yeah the idea between the MAC power users was that we would come up with a podcast where we would address

0:37.0

one subject important to Mac users in each episode and try and go deep with it and discuss it in great detail.

0:45.3

What we were really looking for was to make the podcast that we both wanted to subscribe to.

0:49.3

So here we are.

0:50.3

Right.

0:51.3

Now we may occasionally have other segments on the show, but on every show we're going to have at least one topic covered in depth.

0:57.0

And then after we've covered that topic in depth, we may do follow up to previous shows. We may, well we definitely will be taking questions and

1:04.9

comments and we may add some other segments as the show evolves and as time goes on.

1:10.7

We're not going to be a show though about the news and the rumors. There's so many of those already. We decided we're going to steer clear that.

1:17.0

Right. And also, the name Mac Power Users worries me just a teeny little bit because I do consider myself to be a Mac Power

1:26.5

user, but certainly neither of us are experts on all Mac subjects.

1:32.2

So from time to time we may bring in guests to talk about specific subjects

1:36.1

and we also may make mistakes here or there so we can ask that you please help us whenever that

1:40.9

happens and to send in any comments or thoughts or

1:44.0

corrections and we'll happily make sure that we get those played on future shows.

1:48.1

And even when we're alone and we think we're the Mac Power users there's always

1:52.3

going to be somebody out there who's got some ideas
