Psalm chapter 52, verse 7.

See the man who would not make God his refuge,

but trusted in the abundance of his riches

and sought refuge in his own destruction. What a verse. Let me read it again. Like, it's a warning to you and me

today from God and His Word. See the man, like open your eyes and look at the man or woman

who would not make God their refuge.

So instead of choosing refuge in God,

this man or woman trusted in the abundance of their riches,

trusted in what they could acquire, achieve, possess in this world, and they sought refuge,

listen to the language, in their own destruction. In other words, those who trust in the riches of this world and the things this world offers

are seeking refuge in that which will destroy them.

Oh, this is so countercultural, isn't it?

This is so different than the way the world thinks. The way the world thinks and

way we are prone to think is the more you have, think riches, think achievements, think

position, power. The more you have in this world, the safer you are, the more secure you are, the better off you are.

And the Bible is saying the complete opposite. The Bible is saying, the more you have in this

world, the more you are seeking refuge in your destruction.

How? How do you avoid destruction?

Where do you go for true refuge?

Not in the riches, the achievements, the acclaim, the position and power of this world.
