This is a very powerful scene in the book of Exodus as God is confirming his covenant

with his people.

His promise to his people, this is the mosaic covenant, God's covenant with his people

through Moses through which he promises them to give them his law, to lead them into the

promised land and to be with them, to protect them, to provide for them, to lead them to

life, to bless them in so many different ways.

And the people are saying, I read it in verse 7, all the Lord has spoken, we will do,

and we will be obedient.

Like yes, it's like almost picture like a marriage ceremony.

God committing himself to his people is people committing themselves to God.

And yet we know, I don't want to give away what's going to come very soon after this.

But before the blood of this covenant even had time to dry, the people of God were forming

a golden calf and worshipping and bowing down to that, were being unfaithful to this covenant

with God.

And yet God would not be unfaithful to them, even in this picture.

So blood plays a very prominent role here, there are sacrifices, offerings being given.

And there's blood being sprinkled against an altar.

But then did you notice what verse 8 said, Moses took the blood and threw it on the people.

Right after they had said, all the Lord has spoken, we will do and we will be obedient.
