I am happy to see that they're finally going to do something that I want them to do,

and that is take a good long look in the college game at the absurdity of the

targeting rule.

And they're doing it.

They're finally doing it.

Ross Dillinger wrote a piece on this, if you haven't read it yet, to his credit, Yahoo Sports.

Officials this weekend will meet in Texas, plan to review the potential changes to what is obviously the most scrutinized penalty in all of college football.

Quote, we're going to have a discussion on targeting Steve Shaw, the national director, coordinator of officials, and the NCAA Secretary of Rules editor told Yahoo Sports last week from Miami, which was, of course,

the side of the national championship game. That needs to be an annual discussion, honestly.

It will be a focus discussion this time around. When asked whether or not targeting would be

on the proverbial chopping block, they said, no, no, no, but we are going to take a closer look at the penalties associated with targeting and more clearly defining what targeting is.

So I might point this out, Tom, as somebody, and you know my stance on targeting,

and I have been very consistent with this since day one, and I think most people that have

ever played football agree with me.
