Malachi chapter 3, verse 1.

Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me.

And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple.

And the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says

the Lord of hosts. We're getting near to the very end of the Old Testament. These are the last

two chapters, Malachi chapter three and four. And Malachi three begins with this promise that the Old Testament will ultimately close with.

Behold, I send my messenger. He will prepare the way before me.

So God's saying I will send a messenger to prepare the way for my coming.

What we know, just to jump ahead and the story of Christmas is the birth of John the Baptist,

the messenger who prepares the way for the coming of Jesus.

And then verse one in Malachi chapter 3 says, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple. The Lord, God,

will come to you. And the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the

Lord of hosts. What a promise that God on high will not leave a world of sinners alone, that He will come to us.

The God we seek, the God we need, the God who reigns as Lord overall. Just look around you

today. The God who created the world Lord overall. Just look around you today.

The God who created the world and everything in it.

The God who created the world and every person in it.

The good, glorious, majestic, sovereign creator overall will come to you.

This is the wonder. This is the beauty of Christmas.

This baby born in a manger is God come to us.

God in the flesh who has come to save a world of sinners from ourselves and from the judgment we deserve.
