Nehem chapter 1 verse 15 behold upon the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, exclamation point.

I should have read that with more zeal with more enthusiasm because that's really

what this verse is all about so the context here in Nahum is here's a prophet who is proclaiming God's judgment, God's coming wrath,

specifically on the people of Nineveh, which was the capital of Assyria, and the Assyrians had waged war and wreaked havoc

on God's people, specifically the Northern Kingdom of Israel.

And keep in mind, this is the same city

where Jonah had gone to preach about God's coming judgment and the people of Nineveh had repented, had

turned from their sin.

We actually prayed through Jonah chapter 3 how God relented of the disaster he had said he would bring upon

Ninnava because of their repentance. But here and Nahum, the message is clear. God's judgment is coming and the people of Neneva have not repented.

Are not repenting and God is making clear that they will experience.

They will not escape his judgment.

And specifically God's judgment for the way that

Ninevites, the Assyrians, had ravaged his people.

And so in this sense, when you get to Nahum chapter 1 verse 15,

the prophet Nahum says, behold upon the mountains, the feet. The feet of him who brings good news who publishes peace.

So Nineveh's downfall God's judgment upon Assyria was good news for the people whom the

Assyrians were attacking. This was good news for God's people. Now as we think about how this

verse leads us to pray, I just want to say it one more time and now that you know the context hear these words behold

upon the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, basically saying, like picture somebody running

over the mountains saying war against you is over, Your enemies will not be attacking you anymore. Peace will rain in the land.
