I'm Lynn Hilton Wilson and we've got the four last books of Paul's prison letters today.

We have Philemon, First and Second Timothy and Titus.

I put Philemon first because chronologically that's where it fits.

All four of these letters were written from prison.

We usually call the last three Timothy, Timothy Titus, the pastoral letters.

He's writing these to pastors.

He's giving advice to bishops and to deacons and to the ward members and to how they can

serve and build the community of Christianity.

These letters fall in the third decade of Christianity.

And so we see the church going beyond just the missionary focus to the living together as a community

and how to build and strengthen each other and edify as saints.

length. But I have here on my chart the chronological order. And we know that Philemon is written

first because there's an enormous natural disaster that destroys the city that he's writing to

where Philemon lived in 63 AD. And so this letter, it probably predates the other three to Timothy and to Titus.

As far as figuring out where historically these pastoral letters fit in in these prison epistles,
