Proverbs chapter 2, verses 9 through 15.

Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity.

Every good path.

For wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

Discretion will watch over you. Understanding

will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil, for men of perverted speech, who forsake

the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness, who rejoice in doing evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil, men whose paths are crooked

and who are devious in their ways. What a contrast in these verses between someone who understands

righteousness and justice and equity, good paths,

wisdom in their hearts, knowledge, pleasant to their souls, discretion, watching over them,

understanding, guarding them, delivering them from the way of evil.

Then that introduces in verse 12 a contrast with those who have perverted speech, who forsake

upright paths, who walk in ways of darkness and rejoice in doing evil, delighting in the perverseness

of evil. People whose paths are crooked and who are

devious in their ways. So as we pray in these days leading up to an election in the United States

as followers of Jesus who live here, and hopefully in ways that apply to our brothers and sisters

in other countries.
