And today, we're diving into the American colonies before the revolution, an era that

laid the groundwork for what

would eventually become the United States. Now, before we go any further, let me just say that

I hope to get back to regularly producing episodes. Now, no promises, but we shall see. By regularly,

I mean more than, you know, once every six months or something. Also, there will be

no Patreon going forward and no episodes that you have to pay to access. The heck with that. Anything

that I happen to produce will be available here for free. I've taken down the website and now this is simply just a passion project.

But enough of that, let's get into today's topic.

So what was life like in the American colonies before the flames of revolution began to smolder?

To understand that, we need to step back into the 18th century, a time when many

American colonists were proud to be part of the British Empire. This might seem surprising today,

but the truth is that by 1763, the American colonies were deeply integrated into the British

Empire, and the colonists did not forget their Britishness. In fact, they were proud of it.

So let's start with the fact that on average, American colonists enjoyed the highest standard of living in the world at that time.

British goods were becoming more affordable, thanks to a drop in prices, which meant American consumers had plenty of choices.

And let's not forget land ownership.
