than with two eyes to be thrown into hell,

And this follows up on Jesus saying,

if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.

If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off.

Then in verse 47, if your eye causes you to sin tear it out. Like what

what is Jesus teaching here? He's teaching us about the seriousness of sin, about the severity of one sin, of looking in a way that leads you to sinful thoughts, sinful desires,

sinful actions.

You just can't help but to think as you read this

about King David in the Old Testament

and how his eye caused him to sin, how he looked at Bathsheba in a way that led to adultery,

in a way that led to murder in a way that led to the death of a child in a way that led to so much destruction in his life and leadership.

And Jesus is saying, it's not worth it.

Like, don't let your eye cause you to sin,

your hand, your foot, like sin is serious, it is severe and it has

eternal consequences.

Oh, this is a word we need to hear.
