Hello everybody, welcome back to Daily Easy English Expression, the podcast.

Today we have a great expression.

Something is a wash.

And often we say a complete wash or a total wash. And a lot of people like to add out to this. Something was a complete

wash out. It was a wash out. And what does this mean? It produced nothing. There was zero benefit.

It was a waste. A waste of time, a waste of energy,

a waste of expectation, a waste of money. This is the idea. So, for example, the other day,

we had a lunar eclipse. That means at nighttime we have a full moon,

but then the moon is covered up by the sun's shadow.

I don't know how the space stuff works.

Anyway, so I was staying up late at night to watch the lunar eclipse, to watch the moon disappear, but just before it happened,

it became cloudy. I didn't see anything. It was terrible. The whole night was a wash.

My night was a complete wash. My night was a complete wash.

My night was a total wash out.

It was terrible.
