Hey guys, this is Matt.

And all the way back in episode one of Porn Free Radio,

I tell a pivotal story in my recovery journey.

Now, just to remind you of this story, I was standing on the corner outside of my apartment

in the early 90s, and I had $10 in my pocket.

It was late at night and it was cold.

And I was kind of at one of those moral crises where I was, you know, asking myself,

am I going to go through with this two-block walk to the subway station to get a porn magazine

with this $10?

Or was I going to somehow make a different choice that night. Now, many nights before,

that was the choice I made. If I had the money and I felt the compulsion to act out,

it was pretty much 95% chance that I'd be walking to get that magazine.

But this night was a little different. And the reason why I was a couple days before,

at my college fellowship at school, I heard a woman from a local ministry talk openly about

pornography and masturbation and how guys get stuck in it

and the harm of it and and I remember when she spoke it was like my heart was burning. Someone

actually was speaking about this issue. It was something I struggled with in secret.

And she was so honest and real.

And so that kind of was sticking with me that night.

And so I wasn't quite just going through the motions.
