PSALM 63:1 - O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

| 0:38.0 | This is one of my favorite Psalms that I have read and the first verses especially is what I want to focus in on |
| 0:46.0 | verse number one for today says oh god so this is a prayer to, oh God, you are my God. |
| 0:55.7 | Earnestly, I seek you. |
| 0:58.1 | My soul thirsts for you. |
| 1:00.2 | My flesh faints for you as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. |
| 1:06.4 | Now there's plenty there for us to talk about today and I want to focus in just on that first |
| 1:11.2 | phrase, oh God you are my God that's a declaration it |
| 1:16.5 | sounds like David is making. We believe David was the author of this |
| 1:19.8 | Psalm. And so he's declaring, oh God, you are my God, it's a commitment that he's making not for God's sake. |
| 1:29.8 | I mean think about it. |
| 1:31.4 | God knows what's in David's heart. God knows that David is committed to him, but David is speaking to himself even though he's speaking to God. He's making a declaration to encourage himself in what he believes, to affirm it to himself. |
| 1:49.0 | And man, there is such a lesson there for us, |
| 1:53.6 | because we often, though it's in our heart, |
| 1:57.1 | lose track of where our real focus lies at times. We get distracted by the things that happen in our day. We get |
| 2:06.8 | pulled away by pressures or stresses things that are piled on to our desk or put onto our plate so to speak and we lose focus |
| 2:18.3 | that beneath everything is a foundation of commitment to the God of the universe and when I say that I wonder if you understand what I mean |
