Can you tell me a little bit about what it was like for you when you first launched

your painting career?

I guess I got started just because of the fact that as a

medical illustrator when I was in training I was in art school and was still

kind of hands on with air brushes and pen and ink and colored pencil and all that.

And not to date myself, but eventually the computers took over and I started doing all my

medical work on the computer in Photoshop. So I missed the painting aspect.

And I've always been drawn to watercolors.

So I took a couple of workshops early on

and just started painting on my own time and joined a local group here in Minnesota, the Minnesota Watercolor

Society and just kind of slowly started winning some awards locally and getting asked to teach

community college workshops and stuff and it kind of snowballed from there.
