And we begin with science fiction poised to become science fact.

Sometime today, we're expected to get official word

that the actor who played Captain Kirk

in the television series Star Trek will blast off

for real in a rocket ship with Jeff Bezos.

William Shatter is 90 and is tripped to go boldly

where Blue Origin first went just a few months ago

will make him the oldest person to ever go to space.

His cosmic adventure will reportedly take place next month,

which is the next launch date for Bezos' company.

But the trip up and back won't make Mr. Shatter an astronaut.

The Federal Aviation Administration

changed the definition right after Blue Origin's first flight.

Now only those who demonstrate activities during flight

that are essential to public safety

or contribute to space safety,

get their official astronaut wings.

The rest are just tourists.

It's the question of the season.
