Today is Monday, September 25, 2023.

And we begin with some precious space cargo getting prepped to go under the microscope.

Yesterday, after a seven-year, four billion-mile mission, a well-packaged chunk of the asteroid

Benu landed in the Utah desert on time and on target.

The weekend delivery has been in the work since 2020.

When NASA successfully whole-punched a sample out of the orbiting space rock, tucked it

inside a capsule, and scheduled the unmanned Osiris-Rex spacecraft to drop it off on its

way to another asteroid.

Today, a team will fly the retrieve canister to a high-tech lab inside NASA's Johnson Space

Center in Houston.

And tomorrow, scientists hope to lift the lid for the first time.
