Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Monday, September 22nd, 2025. And we begin with a changing of the seasons.

For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, today is the first day of fall. It officially arrives at 219 Eastern this afternoon, 1119 this morning on the West Coast.

Astronomically, it's known as the autumnal equinox, equinox meaning equality

between day and night, when just about everyone from the North Pole to the South Pole will get about

12 hours of sun and 12 hours of night. Because of Earth's tilt in relation to the sun, our days

will get progressively shorter and our nights longer as we move toward winter.

State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona holds about 70,000, but NBC News reports at least 95,000 people turned out yesterday to remember conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The overflow crowd packed into a nearby hockey facility or listened from outside on big screens. President Trump and other high-ranking

Republicans were among the speakers and attendees, so the police presence was high. In fact, Homeland Security

designated it a top-level security event with drones and TSA-level screening

akin to the Super Bowl, a state funeral, or the New York City Marathon.
