For days now, Jewish people have been greeting one another with the words the Shana Tova,

meaning for a good year, for a good New Year.

And the Jewish New Year is not like the New Year in the West.

It's not a time of partying.

It's not a time of fireworks.

But it is a time of repentance and introspection.

And today's broadcast, I want to explain how Jewish tradition made this the New Year,

whereas in the Bible, it is the first day of the seventh month.

I want to talk to you about the shofar blast, the significance of the blast of the ramshorn,

and then want to ask the obvious question,
