with Waymo getting one of its biggest green lights ever. The driverless car company has just landed a

permit to operate at the San Francisco International Airport. But before regular passengers can hop in with no one in the driver's seat,

Waymo will first test the robotaxies with human drivers behind the wheel, then move to driverless

rides with its own employees. This is the third airport permit for the company, but notably

its largest. Currently, ride service operators Uber and Lyft account for more than

750,000 airport rides to and from SFO every month. While not everyone may yet feel comfortable in a car

with no driver, Waymo co-CEO to Kedra Mawakana calls the service safe, reliable, and magical.

The company is also in talks with Oakland International, which is right across the bay from SFO,

and has announced plans to launch its driverless taxis in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

Mount St. Helens just pulled off the ultimate throwback. Strong gusts of wind this week have

whipped up leftover ash from the Washington State volcano's legendary 1980 eruption, sending gray clouds

swirling through the sky. That eruption, 45 years ago, was one of the biggest in U.S. history,

Officials say the latest haze poses some hazards to local air quality and to aircraft flying above the mountain, but there is no current volcanic activity. As expected, the Federal Reserve lowered

its key interest rate a quarter of a point. The move makes getting a loan a little cheaper and credit cards

a little less costly for Americans. It also allows businesses to borrow more so they can expand

and hire. Fed chairman Jerome Powell signaled the likelihood of one more cut rather than two

before the end of the year. President Trump has been pushing hard for

lower interest rates, but the chairman emphasized that his team is acting independently and in the
