And we begin with a seismic shift for Instagram that will be felt by 100 million kids around the world.

Starting this week, the company is automatically making accounts for anyone under 18,

private. That means no one can interact with a teenager unless a follow request is

accepted. The app will also mute notifications between 10 at night and 7 in the

morning, reduce inappropriate content, and allow parents to block their

kids from the site between certain hours.
