Today is Monday, September 11, 2023, and we begin with Americans from coast to coast

making good on their pledge to never forget.

22 years ago today, a group of extremists attacked the World Trade Center in New York City

and the Pentagon near Washington, D.C.

They're attempt to reach a third target failed, but they still managed to coordinate the

worst assault on American soil since Pearl Harbor during World War II.

Tributes will be held all over the country with special emphasis placed on those in the

nation's capital and in New York City, where two blue beams of light will illuminate

the skyline from dusk tonight through dawn tomorrow.

The lights mirror the shape of the twin towers shine four miles into the sky and can be seen

for 60 miles.

Fire stations will also hold ceremonies, flags, government buildings will be at half

staff, and many landmarks will be lit blue in remembrance.

The future of U.S. tennis is Coco Gough.

Over the weekend, the 19 year old became the first American teen since Serena Williams

in 1999 to win the U.S. Open.

She did so humbly, but also confidently, telling reporters that she's ready for all the

fame and media that come next.

Coco made sure to thank her family for their support, but also called them out in a very

teen kind of way.

Of her dad, she said, today was the first time I've ever seen him cry.
