Good morning and welcome the kid news. I'm Tori. Today is Tuesday, September 8th. What is hopefully a happy first day back to class for those of you in Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Baltimore, Charleston, and the DC Maryland area.

And we begin this morning with Northeastern University drawing an unmistakable line in the

sand.

Over the weekend, the school booted 11 freshmen caught breaking

social distancing rules. Those students won't get back their $36,000 per person

tuition nor will they be allowed to take classes online.

According to the school's paper all were warned in an email blast a week ago to

mask up and space out or go home. These particular students were being housed in a Boston hotel

as part of a study abroad program and reportedly had gathered in one room after

being told not to. Their parents were notified and the kids were given just 24 hours to clear out.

In sports news, an angel has topped the great Willie Mays. Outfielder Mike Trout is now the fastest player in Major League Baseball history

to hit 300 homers and steal 200 bases.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, he did it in his 1,235 game.

Willie the Say Hey Kid needed 60 more games to reach that same milestone.

Interesting statistic of the 19,000 men who've ever played

Major League Baseball, only 25 can say they've made it to the 300-200 club and

to tennis where the sports favorite to win the US Open is out without

actually losing. Novak Jokovich was mid-match Sunday when he swatted an extra ball

and frustration only to have it ricoche off the neck of a line

judge. She went down and had to leave the court. Video shows it was an accident but the

ref disqualified Jokovich for abuse of ball with negligent regard for consequences.
