Hello, I'm Sean Curran, and this is today in Parliament from BBC Radio 4.

For Monday, the 9th of February, when one of Sarkia Stama's closest allies defended the Prime Minister

after he lost the support of Labour's

leader in Scotland.

The Prime Minister, as he said today, is getting on with the job of delivering change for

this country, that the electorate voted for 18 months ago.

The Conservatives say the Prime Minister should take personal responsibility for the

appointment of Peter

Mandelson as the UK's ambassador to the US.

The Prime Minister's authority is gone and his government is starting to collapse.

But Kirstama also finds himself under fire after China jails a British democracy campaigner.

It's clear now that the Prime Minister's trip to Beijing failed spectacularly to secure Mr Lai's

release.

Last week, during Prime Minister's questions, Sakea Stama told MPs that Morgan McSweeney was

an essential part of his team, who'd helped change the Labour Party and win an election.

On Sunday, Mr McSweeney, who'd been chief of staff at 10 Downing Street, resigned over the decision

to appoint Peter Mandelson as the UK's ambassador to the United States,

in spite of the former minister's links to the convicted sex offender

Geoffrey Epstein. This morning, the Prime Minister's Director of Communications, Tim Allen,

also stood down, and then the Scottish Labour leader, Anasawar, called on Zakir to quit.
