All right, so this is the podcast called No-Dum Questions, where I, Destin, I have a YouTube channel

called Smarter Every Day, but I like to learn about science and technology and learn things of

that nature, but I also like to tiptoe into other areas. And Matt, you're the history guy. What

kind of stuff do you like to study? I like history, philosophy, theology. The thing that I really,

really like trying to wrap my brain around is how we went from thinking whatever it was we used to

think to thinking whatever it is we think now. I like the history of ideas. Awesome. So we do this

thing on No-Dum questions ever once in a while where I don't know how to say this. It's usually

we're having a conversation and we're going back and forth and we're both adding things to the pile

that we're learning about. This is a very different style that we're going to do today. This is one

of these moments where you've learned the thing and you've done the research and I've stayed over here

and I'm pretty dumb on the topic. I'm going to be the absorber of information and you're going to

be the giver of information. Is that a good way to describe this? Well, yeah, I mean to a certain

extent, but you're a smart guy and you think about things and you pay attention to what's going on

around you. So yeah, feel free to slow me down at any point and let's game the thing out a little

bit more than just a data dump for me if you know what I mean. Okay, cool. So in the spirit of the name

of the podcast, note him questions. I'm going to ask you questions and I guess you're going to

teach me and I'm just going to sit here and learn stuff about the Dead Sea Scrolls. Let's do it.

But if I think any of those questions are born out of ignorance or offend me, I'm going to berate you.

Okay, buddy, I know you've heard of the Dead Sea Scrolls because everybody's at least heard of

the Dead Sea Scrolls, but what do you know about them? I know that the Dead Sea Scrolls,

they were found in clay pots somewhere in the desert. I'm guessing near the Dead Sea. Very good.
