Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this Friday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan delivers a major escalation in the war with Iran as U.S. naval and air forces strike Iranian military targets after the IRGC launched drones, missiles, and fast attack boats at American warships moving through the Strait of Hormuz.

He explains how President Trump's Project Freedom is back on after Gulf Arab allies reopened their airspace, reassured by U.S. retaliation and new guarantees of protection against future Iranian attacks. Bryan also breaks down Tehran's latest defiance, including a new agency demanding a $2 million toll in Chinese currency for ships passing through Hormuz, and warns that Iran may be preparing for a long war of attrition with quiet help from China through continued drone and military supply shipments.

He also covers a possible domestic energy solution as the White House considers expanding oil drilling on U.S. military bases and federal lands, alongside a sweeping redistricting battle across Louisiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama that could permanently shift House control toward Republicans by 2028. Bryan argues these fights are no longer optional, but central to the survival of the GOP in what he sees as an era of permanent political warfare.

Plus, Bryan responds to former President Obama's praise of New York socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani, exposes confirmed manipulation of crime statistics in Washington, D.C., challenges Chief Justice John Roberts' claim that judges are not political actors, and closes with a health update on the hantavirus outbreak tied to a cruise ship from Argentina, explaining why it deserves attention but not panic.

It is Friday's headline brief. Heavy on news, light on analysis, launching us into the weekend of the events that as ever, our shaping America and the world.

0:31.2

We begin this morning with global news, starting with shots fired between the U.S. and Iran.

0:37.2

Reuters and Fox News report that the U.S.

0:39.1

Naval and Air Force assets struck at some military facilities inside of Iran yesterday and along

0:44.3

their coastline. They were returning fire after the IRGC tried to attack multiple U.S. Navy vessels.

0:51.3

There appear to be two reasons for this sudden uptick in conflict. The first is that the U.S.

0:56.4

Navy sent three ships through the Strait of Hormuz yesterday that infuriated the Iranians.

1:01.7

They said that they control those waters of the Hormuz. That is why they fired drones,

1:06.4

ballistic missiles, and fast attack boats at these three U.S. military ships.

1:14.4

Thankfully, all the Iranian munitions were knocked down or blown up.

1:20.4

And then that is when the U.S. open fire, return fire on the IRGC, including the coastline from where the attacks originated, along with the Iranian military assets that they found

further inland involved in this.

1:27.4

And that gets to the second

1:28.5

reason for why this all probably went down yesterday. The U.S. was looking for some revenge for

1:35.0

Iran's attacks earlier this week on Gulf Arab allies. We'll remember that when President Trump

1:40.5

announced Project Freedom last Sunday, which is his plan to guide merchant vessels

out of the Persian Gulf to safer waters. The Iranians were furious about that. That, of course,

1:50.0

was on Monday and took aim at both Oman and the UAE. Trump's team, as you might remember,

1:56.0

downplayed those Iranian strikes on the Omanis and Emirates on Monday, saying that the ceasefire remained intact.

2:04.0

But as the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday, that dismissive attitude by the Pentagon and the
