We love our backup quarterbacks and Philadelphia, right?

I mean as long as I've been here, as long as I've been alive, Philadelphia has loved its backup quarterbacks.

The most popular athlete oftentimes in the entire city is the guy that holds the clipboard wearing the hat on the sideline.

So it's only fitting that the thing that we are most riled up about in Philadelphia in 2012 about this Eagle season,

a season that we're supposed to be talking about the Super Bowl is who the third string quarterbacks should be.

It's like of all the things we could be talking about, the focus, of course, because this is Philadelphia, it's perfect.

It's Trent Edwards or Mike Kafka, just because we're already over the false thing, like we're already over the Nick Foles thing.

We have gone through a progression of getting excited about one backup quarterback and then another backup quarterback and then a fourth quarterback.

Like yes, the backups, backup, backup.

So it's amazing. It's perfect.

And if you could take a moment in time and put it in a piece of paper or something and you could put it in a time capsule.

So in like 500 years, when they were studying cities and what they were like with sports, if you wanted to know what Philadelphia was like,

you could look at August 30th, 2012 and this is the moment.

For all intents and purposes, when I woke up this morning, Trent Edwards was like, you know, they were playing him just so he could audition for another team.

He was the fourth string quarterback and that's who we're raving about.

So at Nick Foles, by the way, Nick Foles is a guy who most of us, even though not everyone will admit this, because I've noticed that with the NFL draft, not everyone likes to admit that they haven't heard of a guy.

But Nick Foles, most of us hadn't even heard of Nick Foles before draft night.

And now I would say, if you took a poll, what, 35% of Philadelphia wants him to start?

I would guess over Michael Vick and you think about how many times and we don't learn our lesson.

That's the other thing, so Philadelphia, about this preseason is that you think about the number of times that we've been burned by wanting a backup quarterback who we swore was the savior from Kevin Cobb to the debtmers, to AJ Philly, to even a Michael Vick who was the savior at one point.

And we've all been burned and still in this year, where Jeffrey Lurie says that eight and eight is going to get Andy Reed fired in a year that we're calling make a break.

We're more concerned about trend Edwards over Mike Kafka, hilarious.
