| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:14.4 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, November 14th, 2018. This week on the Catholic Sprouts |
| 0:26.7 | podcast, we have been talking about the Catholic Church. We spoke about how it is the biggest |
| 0:32.1 | denomination of Christians in the world, but how it is also a church made of humans and how we need to be praying |
| 0:39.9 | constantly for our church. Yesterday we spoke about the idea that the Catholic Church is universal. |
| 0:46.8 | And no matter where you go in the world, the church will be celebrating the mass in the same |
| 0:52.1 | beautiful, important, meaningful way. Today we are going to talk |
| 0:58.1 | about what holds us together as a church. Simply put, what holds us together are the sacraments. |
| 1:09.4 | Now, have you heard of the sacraments before? I would bet that no matter how |
| 1:14.0 | old you are, you have already received at least one sacrament. The sacraments include baptism, |
| 1:24.4 | which we do when babies are first born. We believe it washes away original sin and |
| 1:31.3 | welcomes members into the church. So I bet you've received that sacrament. Other sacraments include |
| 1:39.3 | the sacrament of reconciliation, where we confess our sins and are forgiven. The sacrament of Eucharist, |
| 1:47.9 | which you probably will receive when you're a young elementary student, and it is when we are |
| 1:53.9 | allowed to consume the true presence of Christ in his body and blood. Other sacraments include confirmation, where you are initiated as an |
| 2:04.7 | adult into the faith. And then also holy matrimony or marriage, where two people are married, |
| 2:13.1 | holy orders, where a person takes vows to become either a priest, a brother, a nun, any of those. |
| 2:21.2 | And then finally, we do anointing of the sick when someone is ill or approaching death. |
| 2:28.0 | So those are the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. |
| 2:32.4 | And here's the thing. |
| 2:33.9 | No matter where you are in the world, no matter what language you speak or what you look |
| 2:38.0 | like, those sacraments remain the same. |
