I have been following with some interest the tale of the Ontario Ferruginus Hawk, I guess

Ontario and Michigan Ferruginus Hawk, we'll get to that. It's a rarity story with a distinctly

21st century angle. The background is told by our friends at Berths Canada, a ferruginous

hawk, western Great Plains, Raptor turned up in southwestern Ontario in early

May. This was Ontario's ninth provincial record, so a rare bird by whatever standards you want to

ascribe. It unfortunately had an encounter with a passing vehicle. I don't believe that it was

struck by the vehicle,

though it did seem like it was disoriented.

It ended up landing in a nearby waterway

where it was collected by a local,

taken to a Raptor rehabilitation facility.

It spent a few days there.
