I am your host, Nate Swick, and I am out this week with my family in Florida.

And that means that this is an encore episode, an All-Colombia encore episode of the American Burning podcast. But Nate, I imagine,

you all are asking, isn't this a lot of Columbia content all at once? He did that episode a few

weeks ago, and now you're bringing back some Columbia episodes from a couple years ago,

and you'd probably be correct to ask, but I am doing it for a couple reasons. One,

I love Columbia,

and I think what is going on down there in terms of birding culture and ecotourism is fascinating.

People are friendly. The food is quite good. The infrastructure, both birding and otherwise,

is well established these days. The birding is undeniably spectacular, as you'd expect,

for a country that can boast a list that includes nearly one-fifth of all the world's birds with dozens of endemics.

And two, well, the ABA is, in fact, planning to host a trip there in September of this year.

And to be completely frank, I want to help sell seats on that trip.

Our travel program is an important part of the ABA's annual budget.
