Well, in Montana, they actually do.

The state constitution, now this is Montana.

This is a pretty conservative state.

The state constitution reads, the state and each person shall

maintain and improve a clean and helpful environment in Montana for present and future generations.

So you've got a group of young people who have filed a lawsuit using that exact language to sue the state over its energy policies.

So this is actually one of the country's first climate change lawsuits.

You have 16 young people in Montana have filed a lawsuit

alleging the state has violated its own constitution and the right to a clean and healthful environment. And here's the argument.

The state's ongoing, the state's government's ongoing support of the fossil fuel industry in

Montana, which is huge, is disproportionately harming the plaintiffs, them and everyone else.

So let's talk about Montana.

A major coal exporter has the largest coal reserves in the United States.

And the coal industry, well, let me tell you what it does for the local economy. It's one of the biggest jobs in the coal industry pay about 30% more than the median income in the state.

And you can imagine the coal industry is really

looking at this lawsuit. Now, let's go the other side. Or let's also talk about the same thing.

At the same time, preserving the environment, this is another argument that's being made by the plaintiff.
