Hello, everybody, welcome back to Daily Easy English Expression, the podcast.

Today's expression, very nice.

It is to chit-chat and to shoot the breeze.

All right, so these are both great words, and I use them a lot.

I use both, and they mean the same thing. To chit-chat. That's one word.

C-H-I-T, C-H-A-T. To ch-chat. And to shoot the breeze. S-H-O-O-T, like with a gun, the breeze, B-R-E-E-Z-E.

A breeze is a light wind, not a really light wind that you can just barely feel.

Usually, when we say breeze, it's nice.

There's a nice breeze. Okay. So the question is, why does shoot the breeze mean chit-chat?

And I don't know. But I do know that they both mean to have a conversation.

Not a deep conversation, just a casual conversation.

Talking about the weather.

Talking about your children.

Talking about school. talking about sports.

This is the idea.

To chit-chat and to shoot the breeze.
