Scott's bassessons.com and I'm back with another episode of the SBL podcast.

Now this week we're speaking to Keith Duffy, who has played with one of the biggest bands over here in the UK,

the course for almost, I think, about 25 years now.

And he also plays with another huge artist called Ronan Keating. I'm not sure if any of

these guys are huge over in the US, maybe they are, maybe they're not, but they were

sizable over here. For instance, they've played sellout shows at Wembley, they've been on

tour with the Rolling Stones, they've played Letterman, like the full nine yards, and they were

huge for a long, long time. And that's what we're going to talk about with Keith today.

We're also going to talk about how he's refined his technique as well, the less is more approach,

especially when it comes to playing in big arenas, which is a huge, if you're ever in an arena,

it's a really different situation playing

wise. So, you know, make sure you check out what Keith's saying, because he's got a ton of

experience with this. You're also going to talk about his gear, Fender P bass, and how he made the

switch to five string as well. And I also should say that he's actually just got a

moulon bass as well. I think everybody's getting moul on bases these days. Anyway, I'm going to let

back to another episode of the SBL podcast, joined today by Keith Duffy, who you may know is the long serving base player with The Cause, who you've been with for how long now, Keith? Like 20 years or something like that? It's got to be 21, actually, yeah, about 21 or 22 coming up to that, you know? Yeah. If you don't know the cause, they're one of the biggest

selling groups to come out of Ireland for a long time. Multi-million selling albums, massive

tours. How did that all come about, Keith? How did your sort of journey begin? And how did you end up

with that gig? It's a funny one, actually. The day I got a call about that gig, it was from the manager, John Hughes, who I'd met before when I was playing with Andrew Strong. Andrew Strong from the movie The Commitments. We were doing tours and he was doing a little bit of recording. And John Hughes had written a few songs that Andrew was recording.

So I met him there.
