podcast, we are going to be talking about serious subject matter. We are going to be talking about

death and what happens to us after we die. Now, I know that this is a little bit of a tricky

topic. There are a lot of emotions around this, but I think it is important that we all know what the Catholic

Church teaches on death so that it can, first of all, be a little bit less scary, and secondly,

help us live lives that will prepare us for what is to come next. Today we're going to talk about why we die

and what happens after we die.

So first of all, our lives on this earth don't last forever.

We know that.

But here in the Western world,

where we have access to medicine and hospitals, we oftentimes feel a little bit disconnected from death.

Perhaps you've never even seen a dead body, and that's fine.

But we all need to know that death is at the end of it for all of us.

And we all die because of original sin.

Way back at the beginning, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate from that tree from which he had forbade them to eat, God told us that we would

not live forever and that we would die. But what happens to us after we die? Now a bit of this,
