So we covered the 2000s era travails of pop superstar Britney Spears way, way, way, way

back in season one.

While we mentioned the conservatorship that she's been living under for the last 13 years

in that episode, we didn't interrogate it.

It turns out that the legal and professional entities that exist to provide guardrails for

conservatorships in California also had not really been interrogating it.

And this summer, we've learned details that run the gamut from heartbreaking to shocking

to disturbing about the life that Britney's father, Jamie, acting as conservator has forced

his wildly successful and extremely rich daughter to live.
