Well, Scout Motors, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group, has confirmed it will reveal its electric SUV and truck concepts on October 24th. This date was chosen because it marks 44 years since the last

Scout was built, adding a layer of historical significance to the event. The new Scout vehicles

are being developed by a US-based

company with production beginning in 2026, a new plant near Columbia, South Carolina. The facility,

costing over $2 billion, is expected to produce up to 200,000 vehicles every single year,

huge number, and create 4,000 permanent jobs.

Well, the SUV has been described by them as an RUV, so a rugged utility vehicle.

And there is a bit of a fad at the minute for raising things up an inch or two and putting

some extra black bits around the bottom of them and calling them rugged vehicles.

It's going to have a base price starting at 40,000-ish, and there's going to be a pickup, but that's larger, so that's

costing slightly more. Interestingly, Volkswagen has invested $5 billion in Rivian. As you know,
