Good morning and welcome the kid news. I'm Tori. Today is Thursday, June 11th,

2020 and we begin with big news for big screen movie lovers.

After losing billions of dollars over the past few months, the country's

three major theater chains say they'll reopen for business by mid-July. But like

everywhere else you go these days, expect a different experience.

For one, you may need a reservation.

Ticket sales will be limited to 25% of the theater's capacity,

or 100 people, whichever's less.

Also prepare to wear a mask except while eating and with a new found focus on cleanliness

theaters are considering other ideas like disposable seat covers, high-tech ventilation

filters, and even disinfectant spray guns. Smaller independent theaters have already begun

to reopen across the country.

Tomorrow, California will be the latest to give the green light to movie houses, but even in Hollywood,

the state's big three, AMC, Cinemark, and Regal will still stay dark until the national restart

in a few weeks.

It's called the 15% pledge and it could single-handedly change shopping for good.

Aurora James, a Brooklyn-based businesswoman, started the movement last week with a challenge on her

Instagram account. In her post

She called on all major retailers to devote 15% of their shelf space to products from black-owned businesses

That number closely mirrors the percentage of African Americans currently living in the U.S.

James's post is gaining steam on social media and yesterday

Safora, the mega cosmetics company, became the first to sign on.
