I'm Kim, today is Thursday, June 9, 2022, and we begin with a rogue rock continuing to hitch a ride on board the Mars Rover.

For the last five months or so, the potato-sized stone has been stuck inside the front-left wheel of Perseverance.

According to NASA, the robot's pet rock isn't causing any harm to the mission.

However, it has made multiple appearances on the Hascam, the rover's camera that detects obstacles.

This isn't the first time a Mars rock has jumped aboard one of NASA's rovers.

Both spirit and curiosity picked up unexpected traveling companions as well.

However, with about 5.3-marshan miles log so far, this rock holds the record for the longest trip.

Another lengthy journey is coming to a head on Capitol Hill.

For the past 11 months, the bipartisan House Select Committee has been looking into the violent uprising

that took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th of last year.

After conducting over a thousand interviews and reviewing more than 100,000 documents,

the committee will hold its first hearing tonight in prime time, calling witnesses and sharing evidence with the public.

Among its goals, to shed light on the events of that day, and to determine who knew what and when,

and whether anyone in a position of power should be held accountable.

Several major networks will air tonight's hearing live, beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

In other kid news notes, Tiger Woods will not be teeing off at next weekend's U.S. Open.

The golfing grate is bowing out of the tournament to give his body more time to get stronger.

Woods surprised his fans with an unexpected comeback a few months ago at this year's Masters,

where injuries from a car accident left him limping along the Hilly Course.
